General Description

The Latin American University of Science and Technology –ULACIT– is an innovative, enterprising and bilingual university leading higher education in the Central American region since 1987. ULACIT prepares its students to lead in science, technology, business and other fields of human endeavor, with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to serve the world in the 21st century. ULACIT is ranked as the best private university in Costa Rica and the Central American region by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) International University Rankings 2023, we have been ranked as the best private university in the country for twelve consecutive years. It is ranked #1001-1200 in the World, #151-160 in Latin-American, and #1 Private University in Central America according to QS World University Rankings 2023. International programs

Our Global Education Services include a credit transfer international student exchange program with an ample course offering in English, as well as a Spanish Language Immersion Program, Faculty Led and Customized Study Abroad Programs, Gap-year Program, Professional Practice and Internship Programs and a Host Family Program. We receive both fee paying free movers and exchange students. We work annually with three quarterly academic periods (Spring, Summer and Fall), which have a 14-week duration each, with two-week vacations between them. By enrolling in ULACIT, international students can cover more credits within a year. Each course covers 45 contact hours per season (1 lesson each week for 14 weeks), representing 3US credits or 6 ECTS credits per course. Our offering of courses taught in the English language is ample: 68 courses taught regularly 100% in the English language at our San José campus in the fields of Liberal Arts, Business Management, Economics, Accounting, Marketing, International Trade, Finance, Political Science, International Relations and Latin American Studies.
